ConsentEd is a group of young people based in Edmonton, Canada who are working towards a world without sexual violence. These men and women work to battle sexual assaualt, sexual harassment, stalking power and control. They promote consent and educate others about types of coercion and rape culture. They also educate others about myths and tools for change.
When you visit ConsentEd’s website, you’ll be surprised at the clean and colourful layout that draws in the reader like a neon sharpie. We wish all sex ed was like this in school! ConsentEd even has a contest called the “I Deserve” Project that will be unveiled at their launch party. The idea of the project is to promote good self esteem around consent and sex positivity. If you’d like to submit a photo you still have time before the party!
The ConsentEd launch party is on Wednesday September 19 at 7:30 pm at the Artery. Tickets are by donation and musical guests include AOK (Assault of Knowledge), Nuella Charles and Jordan Billie Zizi. ConsentEd was a vendor at our launch party this summer, so if you’re in the area, make sure to go support our organization of the month and in turn the goal of working towards a world without sexual violence! If you’re not able to make it, be sure to spread the word about our friends!
