A show dedicated to sex, love, bondage and fun? How could this be? The 12th annual Taboo Naughty but Nice show hit Edmonton like a giant tantric orgasm on November 16. The show dedicated to providing info on sex, toys, romance and a healthy, happy relationship was proud to offer over 50 exhibitors and multiple shows and seminars – and being early birds, me and my partner in crime (a.k.a my fiancé) arrived at a bright and early 3:30 pm. Little did our twittering hearts know, the doors didn’t open until 5 pm… *cue awkward waiting stage*… and 1.5 hours later we were walking into a sex-filled wonderland.

The first thing we received upon walking through those golden gates was a cute little bag with a Taboo magazine inside (which was filled with articles and reviews on toys and such of that nature). To our left was the O!Behave seminar area, where seminars such as Bondage 101 – conducted by Edmonton’s very own The Travelling Tickle Trunk – Tantalizing Chair Dancing and more were conducted. To our right and directly in front was a sea(men) – couldn’t resist – of exhibitors, ranging from cannabis accessories, body modifications, candles, body paint and of course, sex toys galore.

Now, being seasoned vets when it cums to toys, we decided to make a few laps around the show before diving head first into the ocean. I think we made it around 3 times before we couldn’t wait to see what goodies the vendors had to offer. It was like one giant tease and we couldn’t hold out for much longer.

Once we stepped into the exhibitor’s domain it was like visiting Narnia; things we had never seen before were thrust into our faces. The variety of toys, lubes, condoms, whips, handcuffs and even “after pussy/penis” mints was astounding. To be honest, I was a tad bit overwhelmed, but the people running each exhibit were completely helpful and full of fun facts on just about everything. I even had the pleasure of playing dress-up with a huge selection of corsets from Felix and Kitty Creative (which for our plus size ladies, goes up to a size 28). Believe me, once you’re at a sex show, no one – and I mean NO ONE – cares if you take your bra off in the middle of a crowded room to put something on. I think that’ll be a one and only for me, though.

The Taboo show was a great experience, and an overall thrill to attend and be a part of. The people were great, the exhibits were super fun, and the products… well the products will be forever remembered in my mind. If you want to learn about things that are a little Taboo in everyday life, or if you want to have a fun weekend with the gurls, the Taboo show is great. You have fun, you learn and best of all, you get to experience what so little people will ever get to experience… a football sized room filled with sex toys. Just remember what happens at the Taboo show stays at the… or in reality, it comes home to play with you.
