Natalie Holmes sounds like if someone threw Joni Mitchell, Ellie Goulding and a couple of pop/folk playing unicorns into a cake, iced it with the sweetest mixture of honesty, level-headedness and positivity and then sprinkled it with some Lucy Rose. Bristol’s 19-year-old singer-songwriter has grown her fan base from square one over the past 3 years. Now with almost a million hits on YouTube, over 12,000 subscribers, almost 3,000 Facebook likes and 2 self-produced albums accumulated from her bedroom, she’s matured enough to take the final leap into the industry. She is releasing her new EP, The Simplest Things, in January.
Since moving to Leeds in 2011 to study at Leeds College of Music, Natalie has been gigging wherever and whenever she can, taking her Internet following and expanding it in the real world. Key moments for her were supporting Kate McGill on her headline tour at The Cockpit in Leeds, planning and carrying out her own tour in September, closely followed by supporting Lewis Watson on his entire sold out UK headline tour in October. She’s also been busy attracting the attention of the likes of Perez Hilton, who in featuring her original song ‘Safety Net’ on his blog, said, “She’s a real artist!”
You can find Natalie’s new EP, The Simplest Things, on iTunes Jan 13, 2013.
