Electronica is an ever-evolving, ever-changing scene. With so many branches such as drum and base, dubstep and house, the options for a producer making it into the mainstream are large.
Krewella has reaped the benefits of mainstream. Their group, comprised of sister vocalists Jahan and Yasmine Yousaf, and producer Kris ‘Rain Man’ Trindl, has been thrusted into the limelight of listeners in the past year.
Forming in 2007 from Chicago, the group has a collective musical style that draws mainly from a dubstep setting but also mixes in other elements such as progressive house and electro house.
Play Harder was released in 2012 and since then Krewella has played every major electronic festival, including Ultra Music festival to the upcoming Tomorrowland festival.
Alive pushed Krewella into the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s dance radio play. With vocals delivered in perfect harmony under the line “let’s make this fleeting moment last forever” coupled with Rain Man’s genius production of snyths and bass, the song will be stuck in your head for days.
Busy touring the world, releasing free download mixes like Troll Mix: Makeout Edition, Krewella will be releasing a full-length album suspected to drop within the next year through Columbia Records.
