Cait Smerechinski is a 23 year old freethinker trying to figure out her life. After traveling a lot and attempting school a few times, she’s now pursuing the path of an entrepreneur by running her own shop, Revel in Chaos, where she sells rad, homemade T-shirts and bags. I talked to Cait about her new business and where it’s headed, and the Edmontonian has also graciously agreed to do a giveaway with Flurt! that will be found at the bottom of the interview.
Growing up, I was continuously encouraged and supported to follow my heart and believe in myself. As a result, I became a pretty fearless and adventurous gurl, in all aspects of my life. About a year ago I decided to stop being practical and realistic. Those things don’t make me excited to wake up every morning. And I need that in my life. I want more than average.
What inspires your designs?
I’m inspired by alot of things. Right now, nature and geometric patterns, but I think I’m inspired by mood most often. I think clothes are so representative of where you are and what you’re feeling that day.
Where will we find you in the future?
I’m not really sure where this endeavour is going to take me, but an Etsy and/or website are potentially in my future as well.
Every item from Revel in Chaos is individually made. Because Cait bleaches the T-shirts by hand, every shirt is a little bit different, as well the colour reaction between the fabric and the dye.
We’ll be running a contest from September 24 to October 1st, where one lucky winner will win a custom T-shirt from Revel in Chaos. The winner will be announced on October 1st. To learn how to enter, click here.
