I’ll be graduating from college in three short months, and believe me, the stress has begun to set in. I’m finishing my final semester, spending two days per week interning in New York City (which involves a two hour commute each way), completing an honors thesis and working — all while trying to figure out what comes next.
During my freshman year of college, when I was stressed for a very different set of reasons, I discovered that there was so much more to YouTube than music videos. I subscribed to a few channels, mainly run by other young women around my age, and felt comforted watching my favorite YouTubers navigate their real lives — especially when they were honest about the bumps they hit along the way. For example, Zoella talks about her beauty routine but also about anxiety. Kaelyn and Lucy talk about long distance relationships and LGBTQ issues while sharing a candid sliver of their lives. Sometimes, when I was too scared to seek advice, I would stumble upon it online.
I’m in a very different place than I was during my freshman year, but I still love to watch my favorite vloggers. For any of you in your twenties who are stressed and could use some advice, I recommend this video by a couple of my current favorites, Sanne (@booksandquills) and Rosianna (@Rosianna Halse Rojas). At the very least, you may find it reassuring that two young women in London stress about the same issues you do, wherever you are in the world.
Let me know which of Sanne and Rosianna’s tips you agree with, and please share your own experiences below!
