Amy: The ‘Intelligent’ Vibrator

Amy, a vibrator by SVAKOM (a company that designs its vibrators in the United States), is probably the first such device I have heard of referred to as ‘intelligent.’ All of SVAKOM’s devices seem to have names, most of which are gendered. I am not sure exactly why “Amy” was chosen for this one, other than it is intended for use by those with female anatomy.

The first thing I noticed when I took Amy out for a try is how powerful it is, which for me is a good thing. There are five intense vibration speeds and patterns, controlled by two buttons towards Amy’s base. I found the buttons a little awkward to push at times, as they’re close together and small. They didn’t always respond to my first attempts, and this could be annoying if one accidentally turns the device off at the wrong time, or alternately goes into super-speed when you want to turn it off. However, I especially liked the feel of the vibrations, as well as the shape of the tip, which is ideal for external clitoral stimulation for which Amy can be used as well.

Like many G-spot vibrators, it’s completely waterproof for shower and bath play, and mostly covered in body-safe silicone, which is easy to clean with soap and water. It’s reasonably-priced, and has an environmentally friendly design (of the device itself – the packaging is rather elaborate). It charges via USB in about 90 minutes, for approximately two hours of use.

Now, back to the ‘intelligent’ thing. There’s a mode that’s supposed to simulate sexual intercourse, from foreplay to climax to coming back down to earth. While this mode starts out teasing, it may not necessarily end up pleasing. It moves through the various stages rather quickly and didn’t give me enough stimulation at the crucial point. Maybe it would work for others – I don’t know. I’m not sure how the company tested out how long each stage had to be for the user to reach an orgasm. However, it’s an interesting idea that could work if there was a way for the user to manually extend the stages when needed.

That being said, Amy is an attractive, affordable vibrator that has a nice feel and fit. It’s not too large, certainly not intimidating and comes in several different colors. The box contains a carrying pouch, charger and instructions. Amy is also light and quiet (not silent, but not loud either), considering how powerful it is. It may be too intense for some people, especially when using the higher speeds. Although it has a female name and is marketed towards women, couples could have fun with it as well, and I’m guessing it could also be used anally regardless of gender. If you’ve never tried a G-spot vibrator before, Amy would be a decent first choice.

Amy by SVAKOM is available at The Traveling Tickle Trunk for $119.00 CAD.
