Tania Safi is sure young people can make a difference – and she knows from experience. As a filmmaker who’s worked her way up to international popularity, the Australian gets to make a difference every day producing impactful videos at Buzzfeed. Topics like LGBTQIA and disability rights are close to her heart, and she knows that speaking about them can help to create real change.

Like Tania, young people around the world are increasingly choosing non-conventional careers that make them feel fulfilled while impacting the world around them. People like Alyse Bratigam who founded Raw Alignment and moved to Hawaii for a healthier lifestyle, and Lucy Rowett, a spiritual sex coach from England who took control of her health, are showing us that it’s possible to make a career out of something you love and feel great while doing it.

In this issue, you’ll find articles written by everyday people just like you that hit home and open your mind – topics include starting university, having casual sex, debunking obesity myths, finding alternative meat options or putting together a back-to-school wardrobe without breaking the bank. I’m so happy that FLURT has become an inclusive space for young people to share what matters in life while learning new perspectives from each other. It’s my belief that the more we share with one another, the less alone we’ll feel in our struggles and the more we’ll have the strength to reach even higher.
