At FLURT Magazine, we believe young people have the power to rewrite the media. We believe in being socially conscious. And we believe that reading is power, which is why we’re starting a brand new book club.
We will be using a GoodReads group as the home base for FLURT’s book club—this means we will announce monthly selections and have open discussions on GoodReads, and we’d love for you to join us! As always, we are open to your suggestions and value your feedback, so let us know in our open discussion or in the comments below what you’d like to get out of this club.
We know it’s a little late to choose an October book to kick off our first month—so that’s why we’re giving you until the end of November to grab a copy of Estée Lalonde’s debut Bloom and give it a read. You can check out our recent review of Bloom here.
We love this beauty and lifestyle vlogger’s raw honesty in her book, which reads like a cross between memoir, diary and scrapbook. Bloom delves into issues of body image and anxiety and depression, as well as lighter topics including travel, beauty and fashion, and appreciating friends and family.
When you’re finished with Bloom, head over to GoodReads and start commenting on our discussion threads (linked above). We can’t wait to hear what you think! Happy reading!
