Starting a summer internship? The tricky thing about dressing for one is staying professional while keeping cool. Here are some great, inexpensive options for both of the latter.

1. Kimono
You can find kimonos in all different patterns, and wearing one with a blouse and lace shorts makes any look instantly become more professional.

We recommend: Black and white kimono- Urban Outfitters, $69

2. Flowy lace shorts
These type of shorts are super comfortable and can be dressed up very easily. Tuck in a blouse, add a kimono, wear strappy heels and there you go! You’ll stay cool and feel comfy the whole time while staying work-appropriate.

We recommend: Black, lace shorts- Urban Outfitters, $54

3. Chiffon blouse
Light fabrics are key during the summer. Chiffon shirts are perfect because they can easily be paired with anything: Skirts, shorts or pants. Plus, they’re made in long sleeves and short sleeves. On a breezy day, try rolling up the long sleeves. White chiffon blouses look great with solid blue pants and a braided tan belt.

We recommend: White blouse- H&M, $29.95

4. Thin braided belt
Thin braided belts add a little flare to any outfit. Light brown belts are perfect with blue or white pants. Check out the fishtail belt at H&M – it’s slightly different from the rest in a sophisticated way.

We recommend: Fishtail braided belt- H&M, $5.95

5. Rompers
Rompers are the quickest way to dress for the warm weather while staying work-appropriate. Short rompers (which have short bottoms) or long rompers (which resemble more of a jumpsuit) look great with a simple pair of heels and some accessories, like bangles or a chunky necklace.

We recommend: Long blue polka dot romper- H&M, $24.95

6. Layered dresses
Layered dresses are pretty and professional. Accessories are key with these! Long necklaces and strappy heels complete the look.

We recommend: Light blue dress- H&M, $29.95

7. Mexican-inspired blouses
The tight bottom on these blouses give them real definition. The patterns can be matched with dressy, tight shorts, or straight leg pants to build a more office-themed-look.

We recommend: Blue and white patterned blouse- H&M, $17.95

8. Creme colored blazer
Crème colored blazers add flare to any outfit with colored pants and create a sharp, professional look. Solid color pants or pants with simple patterns work great.

We recommend: Creme blazer- H&M, $34.95

9. Patterned, hippie-inspired pants
Thankfully, the throwback of 70s fashion has made dressing for summer internships so much easier! Patterned, loose pants look great with a tighter shirt and wedge heels. The pants really are the most important part of the outfit! Add a few bracelets or a big necklace to complete your look.

We recommend: Floral, vertical line pants- Forever 21, $19.80

10. Strappy heels
Strappy heels give your feet some air and are super comfortable. They can be paired with almost anything to give an outfit a more office-themed vibe. They’re like the little black dress of shoes and are definite must-have for this summer work place.

We recommend: Strappy heels- H&M, $34.95
