January comes with a chorus of people vowing, “New year, new me.” So, why not add a couple of new artists to your playlist while you’re at it — especially if you’ve decided to newly commit to the gym, or for on your way to work or simply when you’re in the mood for great music. Here are some newer artists that are coming out with albums to help ring in the new year the right way.

1. Coleman Hell

Coleman Hell, hailing from Thunderbay, Ontario, debuted his single of 2 Heads in February, 2015. And since the success of this single, his first album is expected to come in 2016, released by Columbia Records. His genres range from indietronica, indie pop, folktronia, and EDM. In the midst of waiting for his album to come out, he also has free mixtapes already released, including Stark Raving and VENA EP. Check out Coleman Hell’s website to stream some of his music for free.

2. Alessia Cara

If you don’t know who Alessia Cara is by now, please crawl out from underneath your rock. Canadian-born in Brampton, Ontario, Alessia Cara released her first album, Know It All, last November. She was able to hit number one on the Billboard charts for Hot R&B and Hip Hop for her song, ‘Here,’ and is now doing a North American tour for 2016. Hopefully, we’ll be able to hear a new album from her coming soon and her present album will continue hitting charts worldwide. Her songs on Know It All range from the thoughts of teenagers at parties, the rawness of a heartbreak and why we as girls should feel beautiful. If she can masterfully put together such an album at nineteen, her next work is sure to be something special.

3. Honne

Honne is an electronica duo from London, England. Together, James and Andy write, record and produce their own music. Their new album, Gone Are the Days, was just released on January 22, 2016. Since forming their duo in 2014, Honne has continuously played live shows. They started off 2015 with a sold out show at Electrowerks in London, followed by headlining at the Laundry in London. They have performed at numerous festivals in the United Kingdom and across Europe. While their beats are electronic, there is a rustic soulness to the actual singing. If you’re looking for something a little different, give them a listen.

4. Eric Prydz

Eric Prydz is a Swedish-born DJ and producer, based out of Los Angeles. In addition to his own music career, he runs record labels Pryda, Pryda Friends and Mouseville, which release most of his own stuff. He had a hit single in 2004, which was sampled on Steve Winwood’s hit Valerie. We’re excited about Eric Prydz in 2016 because he now has an album available on iTunes for pre-order, before its release on February 5. This album, Opus, has been described as “an adrenaline shot of sweeping melodies and opulent progressive house” by iTunes. If you’re into dance music and in the mood for a bit of fun, definitely check out Erice Prydz.

Many of her songs played in movies and TV shows, such as Dear John, Vampire Diaries, Grey’s Anatomy and One Tree Hill. The indie singer-songwriter plans to release another album this year.
