This Buzzfeed video humorously tackles the problem behind #AllLivesMatter, an attempt to overgeneralize the Black Lives Matter movement. While the Black Lives Matter movement was born out of a need to draw attention to police violence and oppression against Black people, the phrase All Lives Matter draws attention away from this root cause. If you don’t quite understand what the big deal is then take a look at the analogies in this video. In summary: Sure, all lives matter, but we can’t all get equal attention all the time, and that’s okay.
